Manchester United's Anthony Martial out of FA Cup final due to injury

Martial was injured in the final game of the season against United after coming off the bench against Fulham on Sunday.

Manchester United striker Anthony Martial has been ruled out of Saturday's FA Cup final against Manchester City with a hamstring injury.

Martial discovered the problem after coming on as a substitute in United's final Premier League match against Fulham on Sunday and scans have revealed the full extent of the damage.

United said in a statement: "Anthony Martial has been ruled out of Saturday's Emirates FA Cup final against Manchester City due to injury. Tore a thigh muscle at the end of the winning match.

"An investigation has revealed a torn muscle, meaning the 27-year-old will miss the clash at Wembley."

Martial has missed United's first two Premier League games this season with a hamstring injury. Since then, he has been limited to 29 appearances in all competitions, scoring nine goals.

He has only started 11 of his 21 league games this season, but he would have preferred to start at Wembley against City in their bid for the domestic treble.

The former Lyon winger, who spent the second half of last season on loan at Sevilla, joined United from Monaco for £36m in 2015 and has made nearly 200 league appearances.
